[Ferrari and SK On sign cooperation on batteries] & [CATL is working with Tesla to jointly develop new batteries]

[Ferrari and SK On sign cooperation on batteries] On March 27, electric vehicle battery manufacturer SK On announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Italian luxury sports car manufacturer Ferrari to strengthen cooperation and promote battery technology innovation. SK On is currently Ferrari’s sole battery supplier and has been supplying cells to Ferrari since 2019.

[CATL is working with Tesla to jointly develop new batteries] CATL Chairman Zeng Yuqun said in an interview on March 25 that CATL is cooperating with Tesla to develop fast charging batteries for electric vehicles. Research on battery technologies such as new electrochemical structures is aimed at speeding up charging. At the same time, CATL is providing equipment for Tesla’s factory in Nevada, USA.

The three rights are for areas including an 18.83 square kilometer mineral deposit in Tianshuihai, Hotan County, a 6.7059 square kilometer deposit in the outskirts of Dahongliutan, Longmen Mountain, Hotan County, and a 105.3935 square kilometer deposit in the southern part of Washixia, Ruoqiang County. These were won respectively by Xinjiang Dehuilongwang Mining Co., Ltd., Hotan Zhiyuan Mining Co., Ltd., and Xinjiang Hongshengjairui Mining Co., Ltd."

According to the data, in February, China's power battery installation volume declined both year-over-year and month-over-month. From a corporate perspective, CATL's market share exceeded 55%, with BYD's share close to 18%. Specifically, in February, China's power battery installation volume was 18GWh, a year-over-year decrease of 18.1% and a month-over-month decrease of 44.4%. This is in line with the downward trend in the production and sales of new energy vehicles for the month.
